Easier Recruiting and Jobhunting
Building a More Efficient Process

We are at an important crossroads in our project to develop a unique, high quality, reasonably priced, Internet recruiting/jobhunting system. The system will make the hiring process more efficient for both candidates and recruiters/hiring managers. About a year ago we established this site to publicize our plans and to gather information from visitors. Many people, primarily candidates, have viewed our site, read the eGuide to Successful Jobhunting, and were kind enough to provide input regarding the current state of Internet recruiting. The eGuide and results of our visitor surveys are available via links to the left. The surveys showed that there is plenty of room for improvement. Now, the purpose of the site has changed from information gathering to fundraising and promoting our proposed product.

We have developed a software design and the business plan for our product, which we temporarily call JobBank. The design and plan are discussed in some detail on this site. We now have long and short-term needs on the path to bringing our proposed product to market:

Long-term: Secure funding and establish a technical/business environment for the development and marketing of the system.

Short-term: Meet all current expenses while pursuing the long-term goal.

There are a number of possibilities for achieving the long-term goal and we will discuss them here, but first, we want to consider the short-term goal. Software planning and business development is expensive. Even as the designer works on this project, the bills need to be paid. Until now, the project has been funded by a group of three people, the designer included, and their resources are becoming depleted. Visitors can help us a lot with the short term goal by making a donation via the Donate link on the left. On this site we will provide justification for the development of this new system and give the visitor a grasp of the amount of work that has already been done on the project to this point. We hope this information will be influential in your decision regarding whether or not to donate.

There are three obvious possibilities for the achievement of the long-term goal:

  1. Obtain venture capital funding for the creation of a new company that will develop and market the product.

  2. Find an existing software company with the resources to develop and market the product.

  3. Find an existing company interested in developing and marketing the product and find venture capital to support the process.

Possibilities 2 and 3 seem the most likely at the current time. This is because an existing company will also have human and physical resources that can be applied to the project, and an existing company will have a customer base that is familiar with their work and which the company can contact efficiently. However, all options are open at this moment.

Please contact us using the link on the left if you have ideas regarding how we might achieve our long-term goal. We would love to hear from software companies or venture capitalists, as well as anyone who could put us in touch with either one. In addition, comments, suggestions and criticisms are also welcome.

There are a number of other documents that are part of this site and links are provided to all of them. They provide the visitor with an overview of the system that we plan to develop and the business model that we intend to employ to make it a success. We summarize each document briefly here:

System Overview: A brief overview of the features of the proposed system.

Prospectus: Justification of why we believe our proposed system is unique and marketable. This document is in the form of a question and answer session. It includes a discussion of what sets JobBank apart from the competition, the centralization and standardization provided by JobBank, and how we expect to develop and market this massive software project with a reasonable initial investment.

Business Summaries: The Executive Summary and Document Summary from the JobBank Business Plan. The Executive Summary is a brief, business-oriented introduction to the proposed system and how we intend to bring it to market. The Document Summary is an overview of the entire Business Plan and it includes information about the recruiting industry, our system and its marketing, operations, management, finances and a SWOT summary.

State of the Project: Also part of the Business Plan, the State of the Project discusses the three main bodies of documentation that we have prepared.

Guided Tour: a large collection of sample screens.

Design Document: includes a detailed functional definition and database definition.

Business Plan: as summarized.

Designer's Resume: Details of the designer's professional background in software development, research and teaching. This is provided to show that the designer has the appropriate background to work on this project.

We hope this information will interest the visitor and provide insight into how our proposed system will benefit jobhunters, agencies and employers alike.
